As scientists turned their telescopes towards the sky to record (telescope) the light from the stars,they discovered mysterious dark lines that appear in the color spectrum of starlight. These lines hold a wealth of information about the composition of stars and the elements that exist within them. Through careful analysis,scientists have found  that every element absorbs specific frequencies (or colors) of light, leaving behind these telltale dark lines. As we peer into the sky to study the spectrum of starlight, we can thus decipher the chemical composition of stars and reveal their distinctive fingerprints.
